External Gear Pump, Interactive 3D
An interactive 3D model of an external gear pump, modelled on the Casappa Magnum HDP 30.51: two ten-tooth gears in a figure-8 bore, 51.83 cubic centimetres of oil per turn of the shaft, rated to 230 bar and 280 bar peak.
Oil never passes between the gears. Each tooth space scoops it on the inlet side, carries it round the bore wall, and the teeth meshing again squeeze it out of the outlet. Cut the pump open, make the body glass, explode it into its parts, or follow one tooth space on its trip. The speed and outlet-pressure sliders drive live readings of flow, leakage, efficiency, power and torque, all computed from the pump's own geometry.
